Inoyo Toro Foundation is one of the few credible education foundations in Nigeria. We recognise and reward distinctive and hardworking teachers and principals of public secondary schools through our Annual Award for Teaching Excellence. We are also involved in the mentoring of students in public secondary schools.
The Foundation was established in 2007, in response to the need for private sector involvement in eradicating poverty through education and supporting educational development in Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria at large.
Our Commitment to teacher quality enhancement over the years has been recognized by the Akwa Ibom State government. As part of programmes to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State, we were given an Excellence Award for our sterling contributions to the promotion of academic distinction in Akwa Ibom State.
To contribute to the eradication of poverty through education by investing resources to encourage the learning of science subjects in schools, encourage teachers to be more focused, and supplement government’s efforts in improving education standards.
The Foundation’s vision is to improve the standard of education in Akwa Ibom State, using teachers as the focal point and to complement Government’s efforts in enhancing the quality of education.
Encourage the development of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English Language, Economics, History, and Visual Arts in Akwa Ibom State public secondary schools
Create awareness for the importance of these subject for the study of science or applied sciences, social sciences, and arts at the tertiary level.
Foster positive and healthy competition for excellence among teachers
Create initiatives and causes to contribute to community development
Complement Government’s efforts in enhancing the quality of education in Akwa Ibom State
The Foundation aims to restore the integrity and glory of our teachers by motivating them through a competitive reward system. This encourages them to be more diligent in their work and by so doing produce better students.

The Foundation in recognition of the importance of quality and accurate information in decision making and policy formulation engages the services of experts in gathering education data in Akwa Ibom state. The Foundation maintains this repository of data which is made available to the Government on request.
The Foundation collaborates with local and international agencies and institutions in sharing information and facilitating training opportunities, in furtherance of its stated objectives.
