Training brief
Inoyo Toro Foundation held her annual capacity training for award winning teachers on the 22nd of February 2020. The training took place at EMMJM Hotel, Dominic Etuk Avenue, Uyo. Present at the training was the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Prof Nse Essien. He charged the teachers to utilize the opportunity offered by the Foundation to excel in their chosen career. He also reminded them on the importance of teachers and the roles they play towards building a greater Akwa Ibom State.
Facilitators at the training included Dr. Enobong Joshua, who is the Chairman Screening Committee of the Foundation; Mr. Ekanabasi Ubong, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; Mrs Imo Bassey, Programme Manager, Inoyo Toro Foundation (ITF); Mr. Joe Udoh, State Secondary Education Board (Member of the ITF Screening Committee) and Mrs. Lydia Nkan, a retired Vice Principal (also Member of the ITF Screening committee).
The capacity building training is usually organised after the Foundation’s yearly awards event. The capacity training has as its aim the exposure of teachers to resources necessary to horn their teaching and mentoring skills. This is expected as the teachers are told to mentor other teachers to be like them and not rest on their oars. This create a cycle of excellence, the end result of which are better students.
