Training brief

In fulfilment of a commitment made while presenting his keynote address at the 2021 Nigerian Bar Association, Uyo Branch Week, Mr.‌ ‌Udom‌ ‌Inoyo,‌ ‌former‌ ‌Vice‌ ‌Chairman,‌ ‌ExxonMobil companies in Nigeria and Advisor, Inoyo Toro Foundation has flagged-off a series of capacity building workshop sessions in specialized 21st-century skill areas, for lawyers in Akwa Ibom State.

The capacity building workshop expected to run every Friday and Saturday till the end of July, 2021, commenced over the weekend with a seasoned legal practitioner, Barr. Edo Ukpong taking the lawyers through the first session on “Ethics in the Legal Profession”. Mr. Ukpong is one of Nigeria’s few legal luminaries with expertise in Competition and Regulatory Law and is well reputed in areas such as energy and natural resources, corporate structuring and international business framework.

Similarly, a Gas Optimization expert and Nigeria’s youngest ever Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Dr. Wisdom Enang took the lawyers on the topic: Nigerian Decade of Gas: Akwa Ibom State and Opportunity for Lawyers.

Resource Persons

Notable among the subject matter experts expected as resource persons on various topics in the course of the workshop include: Imeh Okon, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Infrastructure; Uko Udom, SAN, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State; Prof. Lucky Worika, Dean of Law, Rivers State University; Dr. Sam Amadi, former Executive Chairman, Nigeria Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC); Justice Ifiok Ukana (Rtd.), former Justice of the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary; Dr. George Akpan, retired Senior Counsel with ExxonMobil; Essien Udom, SAN, Founding Partner, Udom & Udom Law Firm; and Paul Bassey, FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner/Senior Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Sports.
