As the world celebrates 2026 Teachers’ Day today, October 5, 2026, we congratulate all teachers in Akwa Ibom State. This year’s theme, Standing with Teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status, and shaping the future, is a reminder of the sacrificial services of the teacher, sometimes in unfriendly environments, and gives hope for a future that can be brighter for the teacher and society. Inoyo Toro Foundation has for many years used her teacher motivation and mentorship programs to effect the repositioning of the teacher in our public secondary schools. As the Foundation celebrates the teacher, we call on stakeholders and the general public to stand up and recognize the enormous contributions of the teacher in the education process and celebrate them.
As we continue in our age-long collaboration with teachers in the state, may we remind us all to reflect on the kind of support our teachers deserve in order to produce the kind of education our society needs. From government policies on teachers’ welfare, training, reward and recognition, to needed cooperation of the public, every teacher deserves to be celebrated.
We cannot, however, ignore the recent embarrassing performance of our students in the NECO examination results ranking. But this also provides opportunity for a reset, with all hands on deck.
If you can understand this message, thank your teachers!

Chief Operating Officer, Inoyo Toro Foundation
