Story
The 4th Edition of the Foundations Annual Excellence award for Teachers took place on the 4th of November 2011 at Le Meridien Hotel & Golf Resort, Uyo. The event was chaired by Mr. Uko Udom of Udom & Udom (Legal Practitioners). The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Chima Ibeneche, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, NLNG. A total of 15 awards were presented to the teachers at the occasion.
A new award was introduced by the Foundation on this occasion. The Grand Mentor Teachers Award, designed to challenge all teachers who are past or current winners of the Awards for teaching excellence to ‘ UP’ their game and not to rest on their oars. The award is intended to encourage the awardees to reproduce excellence in their fellow colleagues through series of mentoring sessions and other activities. Four teachers were pioneer winners under this category.
A Total of 18 Mentors established a mentoring relationship with the best students selected from each class of their adopted secondary school. 108 students who attended the year’s event are currently being Mentored.
