Story

The 6th edition of the annual teachers’ award for excellence took place on November 8th 2013 at the Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo. The event kicked off with a mentoring session. A total of 29 mentors established a mentoring relationship with the best students drawn from each class of their adopted secondary schools. A total of 174 students are currently being mentored in this program.

The event was chaired by Major General Edet A. Akpan (Rtd) OFR. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Osita Chidoka, the Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission. The speech of the corp marshal centered primarily on the educational development in Akwa Ibom State. Drawing parallels from the strides made in states similar to the size of Akwa Ibom, such as Ogun State, the Guest Speaker concluded that Akwa Ibom ought to do even more to show for its revenue allocation within the Nigerian Federation.
