Partnership brief
The Organisation of Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), University of Uyo Chapter partnered with INOYO-TORO FOUNDATION in the secondary school mentorship programme to improve the quality of science education in Akwa Ibom State. Members volunteer their time in mentoring students of Cornelia Connelly College, Uyo. The organisation undertook various activities in the school to encourage the students to take up science related subjects. These activities include:
- Regular visits to the school and rewarding the best students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language with a set of relevant textbooks
- The members of the association treated the students to a Christmas party
- Career and counselling sessions
